Download and install Enthought Canopy Express.

Databases

Install Microsoft Access. You can typically get this free or for a minimal fee (~$10) through your department.

If you are using a Mac you can run Access from inside Parallels.

Advanced

Download and install the Anaconda Scientific Python Distribution

Windows

• Download and install Git for Windows
• Download and install the Software Carpentry Windows Installer

Mac (OS X)

• Install Git for Mac by downloading and running the installer. For older versions of OS X (10.5-10.7) use the most recent available installer available here. Use the Leopard installer for 10.5 and the Snow Leopard installer for 10.6-10.7.
